Payette River Technical Academy

Payette River Technical Academy (PRTA) is a Professional Technical Education school authorized by the State of Idaho to deliver relevant and rigorous career training. PRTA is a school of choice that offers education to kids 7th through 12th grade. The school and its staff wants to enable their students to become self-motivated, competent, lifelong learners that are equipped with the proper academic standards as well as the technological and problem solving skills necessary to become contributing members of society. The school has three fundamental areas 1) Career Development; 2) Using technology to provide student choice; and 3) Providing advanced academic opportunities.

The traditional classroom experience is not for every student. Where some thrive, others never engage. They grow impatient because the pace is too slow for them or they need more time and fall behind. At PRTA the students can complete their high school curriculum and begin their post-secondary training in less than four years. PRTA’s digital curriculum is designed to support academic success for all students, including those who have not been successful in traditional programs. Foundations courses meet the needs of students who are not prepared for grade-level academic challenges and need to develop basic skills in math, reading, and writing before tackling high school academic courses.

PRTA has been accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission as an Idaho Public High School. Students may choose Payette River Technical Academy to fulfill all of their academic needs to acquire a High School Diploma.

Payette River Technical Academy’s goals are to improve the academic performance of all students. They want to be able to close the gap between better and poorer performing students and support the mission of the Idaho Public Schools. PRTA wants to build and develop a personalized learning experience focused on 21st Century skills, content knowledge, and expertise; as well as, provide career development opportunities.
