Emmett Medical Center
Emmett Medical Center is a Family Medicine office. Often people don’t think of family practice physicians as specialists, but they specialize in Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Geriatrics, Women’s Health, and Immunizations for children and adults. Patients visit Emmett Medical Center for coughs and colds, vasectomies, pregnancies with deliveries and C-sections, casts and stiches, wart and mole removals, joint injections, and of course, all those necessary and beneficial vaccinations, and for many other conditions and illnesses.
Dr. James Thomson, Dr. William Vetter, and Dr. Jennifer Petrie are physician partners of Emmett Medical Center. Dr. William Jewel started Emmett Medical Center in 1954. Dr. Jim Thomson joined the practice in 1983 and subsequently took over the clinic when Dr. Jewel retired. Dr. Bill Vetter has practiced medicine in Emmett since 1998. Dr. Vetter grew up in Virginia but has always felt the Idaho was his home. He decided he wanted to be a rural family physician which allowed him to see the entire gamut of healthcare problems. Dr. Jennifer Petrie came to Emmett in 2011 to be back with her family and doing what she loves—delivering babies and practicing Family Medicine, including Pediatrics. Dr. Petrie is also fellowship trained in Obstetrics.
The Center has one other provider, Physician Assistant, David M. Shuey, II. Mr. Shuey began his clinical career as a Radiologic Technologist in Eastern Idaho. Prior to joining the clinic, he worked in Emergency Medicine throughout Southern Idaho.
