Sagehen Reservoir

Sagehen Reservoir

The Sagehen Reservoir dam was built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) to provide irrigation to farmers and ranchers in the valleys below. The reservoir covers 270 acres and can sometimes become very low during irrigation season.

While still providing much needed water to agriculture and livestock, Sagehen Reservoir is a recreational and sportsmans paradise.

Open from May through September, Sagehen is a medium sized lake with power boat access. Boating is accessible by two ramps and there is a convenient boat dock.

Fishermen have shore access along the fisherman's lakeside trail and a beach offers a place to just sit by the shore and relax.

Four campgrounds are in the vacinity all within easy access to the lake: Antelope (and Antelope Loop), Eastside, Sagehen Creek and Hollywood Point.

Favorite activities include camping, boating and fishing. The Forest Service recently stocked the lake with about 8,600 Rainbow Trout. Fishing limits are 6 per day and fish must be at least 6" long to keep.
