COLABORATION - THEME AT GCCC 2008 ANNUAL MEETING

On March 28, 2008, the annual meeting of the Gem County Chamber of Commerce was held at Cold Mt. Creek Restaurant.

In addressing GCCC members, GCCC President Chuck Rolland - Albertsons and GCCC VP Teena Turner-Evans Realty, both noted that the extensive list of accomplishments were, in large part, due to collaborations with GCCC member businesses, local organizations, community members and local government.

The work of the Gem County Chamber of Commerce positively influences and affects both the business community with on-going representation, education and business support. In addition, the GCCC is responsible for or helps support many community-focused events such as the Emmett Cherry Festival and the Harvest Festival Street Fair.

Wisti Rosenthal, GCCC Executive Director, reported on finances pointing out that the GCCC depends on events, not membership dues, to maintain and grow programs offered through the Chamber. Most Chambers depend on much higher membership dues to support their operations. In 2007, 15% of income was derived from membership investment and 66% was derived from events while 55% of expenses went to membership services.
