The Gem County Courthouse, which houses the County Clerk’s office, Commissioners, Recorder’s office, and the County Auditor, just celebrated their 75th Anniversary in September 2014. The courthouse was built in 1938 to give the small county a government building, since the previous courthouse burned in 1920. Architect Frank Hummel of Tourtellotte and Hummel designed the Art Deco building. The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 17, 1982. The County Courthouse hosted the partnership between the GCCC and the Gem County with a Ribbon Cutting which was held on Monday, December 15.
The partnership between the GCCC and the Gem County is a big step in making our Valley and our County known.
