About The Chamber (GCCC)
The Gem County Chamber of Commerce, also known as the GCCC, is conveniently located in beautiful downtown Emmett, Idaho.
Like all Chambers of Commerce, the GCCC is a member-based organization. Membership is open to any business, individual or organization.
The GCCC actively promotes a strong business climate in Gem County through its many programs, educational opportunities and resources.
In addition, the GCCC enhances its community by cooperating and collaborating with area groups and organizations to bring positive growth and change to the community.
Several community-wide events are brought to you by the GCCC including the communites signature and largest event the Emmett Cherry Festival. Other events include the Harvest Festival Street Fair, Casino Night and the annual Easter Egg Hunt, held in the Emmett City Park.
There two full-time staff, the Wisti Rosenthal, Executive Director and Stephanie Arbulu, Office Manager. One part-time staff, Krista Cole, is the Events & Marketing Coordinator.
The Gem County Chamber of Commerce is goverened by a board of directors from the general GCCC membership.
2007 Accomplishments
- Secured Idaho Tourism Grant Funding to assist in the advertising of tourism opportunities in Gem County.
- Secured Idaho Tourism Grant Funding to create a new Gem Community/Chamber of Commerce website.
- Collaborated with business community and area service groups to form committee to facilitate the updating of the entrance sign at Gem County Line on Highway 16.
- Completed Phase I of Emmett City Park electrical upgrade.
- Collaborated with BSU and the Emmett School District to provide BSU computer classes in Emmett.
- Produced weekly "Chamber Reminder" to keep members informed of Chamber and Community Events.
- Provided small business education and customer service training through NxLevel Program and monthly Mid-Day Mingles.
- Partnered with GEDA and Shadow Butte Development Corporation to further economic development in Gem County.
- Lobbied Idaho State Legislature through membership and participation in the Idaho Chamber Alliance.
- Held ribbon-cutting ceremonies for new and expanding businesses.
- Collaborated with Blue Cross to provide Chamber Blue Health Insurance to GCCC members.
- Continued to expand GCCC Ambassadors Program to increase benefits for Ambassadors.
- Staffed and stocked the Visitor's Information Center and distributed relocation packages.
- Worked closely with local organizations to promote area events.
- Increased community, business and non-profit participation in Cherry Festival.
- Collaborated with area businesses to organize and facilitate a successful fall Harvest Festival Street Fair.
- Participated in ongoing community efforts to revitalize the Gem Community.
- Collaborated with Emmett Rotary Club and other organizations to repair and upgrade the electrical outlets on power poles on Main St.
2008 Goals
- Pursue additional Idaho Tourism Grant Funding to assist in the development of agricultural tourism opportunities in Gem County.
- Collaborate with volunteers, business community and area service groups to construct "Welcome to Gem County" sign at Gem County Line on Highway 16.
- Pursue funding to construct signage for public parking areas.
- Purchase new Cherry Festival flags and poles for Washington Ave. and Main St.
- Collaborate with local service groups and organizations to update community Christmas decorations and banners.
- Launch new Community/Chamber of Commerce website.
